About Me

I purchased "Sadie''s House On Wheels "in late 2007 and loved traveling in a motor home so much that I went on the road full time in late 2008. I started writing this blog to help me remember all the wonder places I have been and it allows me to share those places with my family and friends. Summer of 2013 I decided to hang up the keys for a while and moved back into my stick house. After nearly two years, I am on the road again.

Boca Reservoir
I've spent two weeks at the Gold Ranch RV park in Verdi.  I had planned to stay in Calpine or Boca just up the road, but old mother nature refused to co-operate and insisted on keeping winter around a little longer.  She couldn't seem to make up her mind....one day we had 70 degree weather and the next two days we would have snow showers and freezing temperatures... Finally I moved on the Boca and have been there almost two weeks.  Mother nature is still having a hard time....several days of beautiful Spring weather and then wham...snow and freezing temperatures

I did get a change to get out and hike up to Hunter Creek Falls. The trail head is in the heart of Reno and about 5 miles round trip.  The trail is steep, rocky, and unmaintained but the falls are beautiful. You need boots on this one.

This is the first time I have seen snow on the log in the middle of the falls.

My son Jason and Rhonda said farewell to their house and friends and are now headed down the road to Tennessee. They got a taste of southern weather the other day when the tornado hit Mississippi and Alabama. They have never encountered heavy rains before.

Saying good by.

I've been working cleaning and getting repairs done to my house so a new tenant can move in soon. The biggest project has been doing a years worth of yard work in between all of the bad weather. I should have everything cleaned up and ready to move on by May 1.

Also, Justin and Liz will be moving to Fairfax, Virginia at  the end of May.  Justin is going to go to grad school and Liz's job is primarily on the East coast so Liz won't have to do so much traveling.  The exciting news is that my son Jeremy has purchased a house in Portola, California ,and escrow will be closing soon.  No more cold, cold, Calpine driveways to contend with.  At least now when I visit Jeremy I'll have a little warmer place to stay. It all worked out great in that Justin has sold a lot of his furniture to Jeremy that he didn't want to move to Virginia  and Jeremy has now handed back my furniture to me so I can rent the house furnished and not spend huge amounts of money for storage.  We spent a whole doing the furniture swap thing. I hope to not have to move another thing for awhile.

Moving on...

I decided to head back to Yuma and find some warm temperatures.  While the days at Safford were nice the evenings were cold and the weather forecasts for Willcox were not favorable.  Yuma was warm..almost hot..what a nice change. I spent the whole week in an RV resort with swimming pool, spa, water aerobics, dancing..you get the picture.  I met a lot of great snowbirds from Canada which were about to head back to Canada.  By the time I left the park was starting to empty out.  Maybe that's why I got such a great rate.

One day I went to the air show.

This was the clown plane.  Parts kept flying off during the exhibition.  It was very, very windy so I didn't stay for the whole show.

Monday, I headed back to Reno.  The drive took two full days.  The wind was terrible.  I ended up stopping several times due to poor visibility.  I had intended to spend a day in Death Valley, but the wind was awful and forecasts of rain discouraged me.  The wildflowers were OK but not in full bloom yet. Since I returned I have encounter extremely high winds and cold snow.  Should have stayed in Yuma for another week.  Every year I tell myself I won't be here in March or April which are sloppy, slushy, muddy, months.

Next week I'll be busy helping my son  Jason and his wife Rhonda , get ready to move to Tennessee.  Another son just moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona and yet another son is getting ready to move to Virginia in late May.  Well, that will only leave my youngest son in the area up in Calpine ,California.  At least I'll have lots of places to travel and visit.  Calpine is beautiful in the summer but is not ideal this time of year nor in the winter...too much snow!!!
